Key Responsibilities

  • Estimating, Bidding & Preconstruction Support
    • Lead and/or support quantity takeoffs, scope review, and estimate preparation for commercial TI projects.
    • Cooker subcontractor and vendor outreach: prepare bid packages, manage Invitations to Bid (ITBs), and track coverage.
    • Level bids, identify gaps/exclusions, and support scope clarifications to ensure complete, apples-to-apples comparisons.
    • Support site walks, existing conditions review, and constructability thinking to reduce downstream surprises.
    • Aid with proposal inputs (as needed): scope narratives, schedule assumptions, qualifications, and pricing approach.
    • Maintain estimating templates, historical cost data, and lessons learned to continuously improve accuracy and speed.
  • Project Engineering & Field Support (Right Hand to the Superintendent)
    • Partner closely with the Superintendent to learn field operations: sequencing, logistics, coordination, and quality control.
    • Support day-to-day field needs such as deliveries, vendor coordination, schedule look-aheads, and issue tracking.
    • Aid with project documentation workflows (RFIs, submittals, meeting notes, daily logs, punch lists) and help keep systems clean and current.
    • Help ensure work aligns with drawings/specs and that questions get resolved quickly and professionally.
    • Aid with closeout readiness: punch completion tracking, turnover documentation, warranties/O&Ms, etc.
  • Customer Service & Relationship Management (Critical)
    • Deliver a high-touch, professional experience for clients, architects, and trade partners—especially when schedules are tight and priorities shift.
    • Communicate clearly and promptly; set expectations early and provide proactive updates.
    • Represent Ellipsis Construction with a calm, solutions-first approach—especially in the field and during high-pressure moments.
    • Aid the Superintendent/Owner in maintaining trust-forward relationships across all projects.
  • Operational Support to Owner / Company Growth
    • Aid the Owner with operational items that strengthen delivery (examples may include vendor onboarding, process documentation, template/tool improvements, and procurement support).
    • Help drive consistent use of Ellipsis Construction standards, checklists, and technology tools.
    • Identify practical improvements that reduce rework, improve coordination, and elevate the client experience.
    • Represent the company professionally at industry, recruiting, and community events.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial construction (TI experience strongly preferred), with some hands-on experience with estimating, project engineering, and/or field coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and scopes of work; comfort asking smart questions early.
  • Strong organizational skills and follow-through—able to manage multiple priorities without dropping details.
  • Customer service mindset is a must: responsive, professional, clear communicator, and solutions-oriented.
  • Comfortable working in both office/admin settings and active jobsite environments.
  • Proficiency with common construction and business tools (spreadsheets, email/calendar, document control, and construction management platforms).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience building estimates or supporting bid processes (takeoffs, bid leveling, subcontractor coordination).
  • Familiarity with TI trades and sequencing (demo, framing, MEP, finishes, etc.).
  • OSHA training and/or safety awareness in active jobsite environments.
  • Interest in construction technology and continuous improvement.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Combination of office work and active jobsite work.
  • Ability to move around job sites, climb stairs/ladders as needed, and work in varying site conditions.
  • Ability to lift/carry light-to-moderate materials (typical jobsite requirements) and wear PPE as required.

This position may require assignment to projects with specific badging or security requirements, which may require the Company, Owner, or a third party to conduct a drug, criminal, or other background check.
