Cost Engineer

Essential Functions and Activities

• Initiate, analyze and drive Design-to-Cost trackers for NPD projects.
• Perform should-cost modelling for fabricated components.
• Make similar-to estimates for new component designs based on library of existing components.
• Perform labor-time studies and establish standard times for new installations.
• Support Procurement in analysis and review of supplier cost breakdowns to drive cost reduction opportunities through negotiations with suppliers.
• Support competitive vehicle benchmarking to provide input for future model development and target costs.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience interpreting engineering drawings into should-cost modelling tools.
• Demonstrated systems experience: Excel, JD Edwards (or equivalent), CAD, PDM.
• Practical knowledge of Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) techniques and strong financial awareness.
• Minimum associate’s degree in engineering or supply chain with background in manufacturing, Bachelors preferred.
