Cost Engineer

About the Role

As a member of the Cost Engineering team, you will perform various tasks pertaining to financial projections, cost planning and analysis, special projects, and process management in a fast-paced department. You will be expected to learn quickly and apply tasking across several functional areas including financial planning & analysis, management reporting, and cost engineering.

Responsibilities

• Review each Project’s key contract terms in the development of Project budgets
• Develop, maintain, and review monthly/weekly productivity reports
• Develop, review, and discuss with the Project Team their Staff, Equipment, and Expense Charts
• Develop, review, and discuss with the Project Team their monthly projections vs. project Plan
• Identify any projected cost overages and help in the development of recovery plans
• Discuss and review with select Projects concerning controlling cost in projections as needed
• Manage Project Audits with the Project Team and Outside Auditors as needed
• Identify negative trends (Project or Company Wide) prior to affecting profitability

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
• 3+ years of experience
• Highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic and organizational skills
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and financial modeling skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Comprehension of job cost management concepts and methodologies
• Careful attention to detail and reliability of output
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Knowledge/coursework in project management, commercial real estate, and/or construction is preferred but not required
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently to achieve common objectives

Work Environment

The role involves both active construction sites and office settings. You can expect:

• Frequent physical activity, including navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists
• Physically demanding tasks requiring bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting/carrying materials up to 25 pounds (occasionally up to 50 pounds)
• Adaptability to all weather conditions, moderate to loud noise levels, and elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment
• Prolonged periods of sitting for desk work, document review, and meetings
• Commitment to following Clark Construction's safety policies and procedures at all locations

This is a high-performance environment requiring flexibility to work extended hours, especially during critical project phases or client deadlines. Responsiveness to time-sensitive matters or emergencies outside regular working hours is expected.

Pay

For this role, the base salary range is $45,000–$115,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on education, experience, skills, and geographic location.
