Cost Analyst 1

About the role

The Cost Analyst will identify plant and cost department problems, develop and implement improvement solutions, and work with plant management to resolve processes. This role involves leadership on plant teams, participation in projects, and analysis of cost data to prevent and resolve production and inventory issues.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for each model and option produced in the plant through:
  • Prototyping of new models and options
  • Re-audits of existing models and options
  • Category audits
  • Like-model comparisons
• Observe established costing policies and procedures.
• Complete training programs as provided.
• Participate in Oracle ERP implementation initiatives.
• Daily Duties:
  • Print, distribute, and review the Daily Production Report for margin irregularities.
  • Monitor and respond to Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), including providing cost impact.
  • Provide cost details for Sales Changes and respond to Sales Change Requests (SCRs).
  • Attend daily/weekly order read and production meetings to communicate issues (e.g., Damaged Material Reports, audit discrepancies, inventory preparation).
  • Modify BOMs as required by authorized ECRs and communicate changes to plant buyer and management.
• Weekly Duties:
  • Provide cost detail for necessary options or projects.
  • Attend required plant meetings (e.g., employee, quality team).
• Monthly Duties:
  • Audit at least one model per month (prototypes or re-audits).
  • Cost options required for Prototype BOMs due to pricing urgency or purchasing setup.
  • Review ECRs for start dates.
  • Re-yard homes to record revised costs before month-end closing.
  • Investigate and report unusual damaged materials (DMR) quantities to the plant buyer.
• Month-End Duties:
  • Review changes made to base BOMs during the month (via Detailed BOM Analysis report).
  • Ensure approved ECRs are incorporated into BOMs and options.
• Physical Inventory:
  • Prepare facility for physical inventory.
  • Direct involvement in conducting physical inventory and reconciling results.
  • Count work-in-process material and compile official reports.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Three to five years of experience in costing within a manufacturing environment (preferred).
• Excellent mathematical skills.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational, and analytical abilities.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Motivated to pursue continuous improvement.
• Demonstrates initiative and assertiveness.
• Clear and positive communication with peers, managers, and internal customers.
• Expert knowledge of MS Office software, including Excel.
• Knowledge of Oracle ERP systems (preferred).

Physical Demands

• Consistently operate office equipment (computer, telephone, calculator, printer, etc.).
• Communicate via phone, email, and in person to exchange accurate information.
• Primarily indoor, temperature-controlled office environment with sitting/standing tasks.
