Cost Accountant - Laurinburg, NC

About the role

This exempt, full-time position manages product costing and margin analysis for several brands of manufactured houses, including options. You will determine the costing impact of product modifications, provide costing estimates, and maintain master model and option price files for quotation purposes. The role involves managing home configuration and standard costing systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintains cost in Navision ERP system, creating bills of material for models and options, updating bills to reflect obsolete items, ensuring accurate margin information for pricing decisions.
• Performs local Navision system maintenance, including running updates, coordinating with the corporate office, and training others.
• Conducts production floor audits of bills of material to verify and update Navision bills for as-built items and quantities.
• Maintains standard construction specifications for each brand.
• Approves all job orders prior to production.
• Interacts with Sales, Engineering, Materials, and Production departments.
• Tracks commodity costs to monitor the need for material surcharges.
• Ensures maintenance of up-to-date margin information for models and options to support price adjustments.
• Maintains all models, options, and Navision price files with approved prices for quoting.
• Assists with quarterly physical inventory count and valuation.
• Maintains standard costing system and manages purchase price variances.
• Assists the controller with accounting related to inventories (raw, WIP, finished goods, and cost-of-goods sold, valuations, and reserves).
• Performs other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a minimum of 2 years of related experience preferred.
• Accounting and costing experience in a manufacturing industry preferred.
• Experience with Navision or other ERP systems is a plus.
• Manufactured housing or construction industry knowledge is helpful.
• Leadership and organizational skills with a drive to excel.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and adapt methods to meet objectives.
• Strong research, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in calculating figures such as square and lineal footages, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume for costing purposes.
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
