Cost Accountant

Responsibilities

• Ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities.
• Construct and monitor cost-effective data accumulation systems for appropriate costing information to management.
• Administer cost accounting activities to ensure accurate costing and valuation of production, cost of sales and inventory.
• Aid in the monthly closing process by preparing and posting month-end journal entries, and preparing monthly financial reports.
• Monthly tracking of standard cost compared to actual cost.
• Provide monthly product margin and profit analysis, and prepare recommendations for action.
• Responsible for physical inventory and reconciliation, identification of excess and obsolete inventory.
• Establish standards for material, labor, and overhead annually and for new products, as needed.
• Review the new product cost model and prepare recommendations for action.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities enhancing cost competitiveness at the plant.
• Assist with preparation and evaluation of weekly flash, monthly forecast, and annual budget.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Completed Bachelor’s Accounting degree or equivalent experience.
• Two years experience working in an Accountant position with a manufacturing facility.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to work different hours and shifts as needed.
