The Role
T1 Energy is looking to hire an experienced Cost Accountant to be based at our Austin, TX HQ with occasional travel to our facility in Wilmer, TX.
- Manage and analyze product and manufacturing costs, including materials, labor, overhead, and variances.
- Perform standard cost maintenance, cost roll-ups, and variance analysis within Oracle.
- Partner with operations and supply chain to understand cost drivers and improve cost visibility across the plant.
- Own inventory accounting for raw materials, work in process (WIP), and finished goods at the plant level.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation in accordance with GAAP, including standard costing, inventory reserves, and period-end adjustments.
- Support cycle counts and physical inventories, including planning, reconciliation, variance investigation, and adjustment documentation.
- Analyze inventory variances — usage, yield, scrap, and obsolescence — and partner with operations to drive root cause resolution.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of manufacturing transactions.
- Support and continuously improve the month-end close process with a focus on speed, accuracy, and transparency.
- Prepare and review cost-related journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Aid in management reporting related to plant performance, margins, and operational KPIs.
- Help establish and document cost accounting best practices in a growing manufacturing environment.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting workflows and strengthen controls.
- Support system and process enhancements related to Oracle and manufacturing finance.
- Serve as a finance partner to the Plant General Manager on ad hoc accounting, financial analysis, and business questions.
- Provide financial insights to support operational decision-making at the plant level.
- Assist with special projects related to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle, specifically costing, inventory, and general ledger modules.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing cost structures and variance analysis.
- Ability to work effectively on-site in a fast-paced plant environment.
- Strong process documentation and SOP development experience.
