Cost Accountant

This Cost Accountant role is a member of the accounting team that reports to the Cost Accounting Manager. Responsibilities
- Help track and monitor raw materials and consumables inventory.
- Support the identification of potential excess and obsolete inventory in coordination with Supply Chain and Operations.
- Aid in monitoring job close variances and provide root cause analysis.
- Assist in the month-end close process for inventory and cost of sales.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for areas such as inventory, work in process, job variances, returned material, and cost of sales.
- Maintain financial security by adhering to internal accounting controls.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
- Assist in preparing reports required for financial audits and management as needed.
- Contribute to the ongoing maintenance of our ERP system to ensure accurate information and proper accounting.
- Develop process controls and documentation.
- Maintain detailed and organized accounting records.
- Coordinate and/or support cross-functional requirements and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in Cost Accounting work.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles.
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Self-directed and able to perform assignments independently; demonstrates a proactive approach and flexibility with change.
- Knowledge of Epicor ERP systems.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
Pay
The compensation for this role is competitive and based on experience and qualifications, with an anticipated range of $65k–$94K.
