Cost Accountant

About the role

Noveon is seeking a hands-on Cost Accountant to support its growing manufacturing operations. This role will focus on inventory, WIP, and cost of goods sold accuracy within SAP and will work closely with Operations to ensure financial data accurately reflects production activity. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing cost accounting experience, deep SAP proficiency, and a practical, detail-oriented approach.

Physical Requirements

• Able to move up to 20lbs.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Can wear PPE.
• Make repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, sitting, squatting, and walking up and down stairs.

Job Responsibilities

• Owning and maintaining manufacturing cost accounting, including inventory, WIP, and COGS
• Working directly in SAP to analyze transactional level data and inventory movements
• Tracing inventory flow through manufacturing processes to validate cost accuracy
• Reconciling inventory and cost related balance sheet accounts
• Supporting month end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations tied to manufacturing and inventory
• Partnering closely with Operations and Supply Chain to resolve discrepancies between physical inventory and system data
• Assisting with GAAP compliant reporting related to inventory and cost accounting
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, and system efficiency related to cost accounting

Qualifications

• Has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• Has 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• Possesses strong cost accounting and inventory accounting experience
• Has hands-on SAP ERP experience (required)
• Demonstrates the ability to analyze detailed ERP transactions and explain findings clearly
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of standard costing systems, variance analysis, and Bill of Materials (BOM) architecture within a manufacturing environment
• Has a strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced manufacturing or industrial environment experience
• Experience supporting ERP optimization or process improvements
• Prior experience partnering directly with plant operations or supply chain teams
