Cost Accountant

About the role

The role is responsible for tracking, reporting, and maintaining accountability for all product inventory related to production reporting within the Tubular Division of Haynes International, Inc. This includes meeting Arcadia Facility and corporate requirements and deadlines to support the Company’s business plan. The role involves reviewing general ledger activity, consolidating information, and preparing timely reports. Additional responsibilities include providing support to the Quality and Production Planning departments as needed, serving as a short-term replacement for the Accounting Specialist in all capacities, and performing key duties of the Finance Manager when required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine product costing for tubing and fittings products
• Prepare and reconcile sales reporting and cost of goods sold for daily and monthly closing and reporting
• Coordinate product returns and act as the sales contact for returns
• Maintain responsibility for labor on shopfloor systems, including weekly and month-end reconciliation for temporary personnel
• Review conversion invoices and receipts for reasonableness and ensure proper procedures are followed
• Cross-train on AX and shopfloor transactions and other duties of the Accounting Specialist
• Cross-train to learn WIP and production variance analysis and assist with annual department budgets
• Assist with annual physical inventories
• Assist with SOX and audit requests
• Conduct general ledger, trial balance, and journal entry activities
• Adhere to the month-end close cycle (5 business days)
• Serve as a member of the Internal Audit Team for Arcadia Tubular Facility Process Audits
• Provide additional analysis and reporting as needed

Requirements

• B.S. Degree in Business or Accounting (Required)
• Microsoft Applications, specifically including Excel (Required)
• Intermediate to Advanced Computer Literacy and Navigation (Required)
• Good analytical, organizational, and communication skills (Required)
• Self-Motivation and ability to work well with others (Required)
• Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar ERP experience (Preferred)
• 1+ year of manufacturing experience (Preferred)
• Inventory control/accountability experience (Preferred)
• 1+ year of month-end close and general ledger experience (Preferred)
