Key Responsibilities
- Ownership of the perpetual inventory system in our ERP.
- Ensure accurate costing of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Analysis and Reporting: Routine and ad-hoc reporting on various inventory, costing, operational, and financial metrics to a diverse range of colleagues.
- Use your analytical skills to identify and propose opportunities for improvement in costing or operations.
- Standard Costing and Absorption: Calculate, propose and monitor standard costs for use in absorption accounting methodologies.
- Variance Monitoring: Monitor variances created via receiving, production, and other sources. Correct and implement preventive measures to minimize future variances whenever possible.
- Policies and Procedures: Update, write, and maintain a comprehensive set of desktop procedures and general standard operating procedures for the function in relation to financial reporting and operating procedures.
- Monthly Close: Participate in various close activities and reconciliations related to the monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
- Collaborate: Frequent interaction with operational, financial, commercial, and other team members within Fernway. Communicate with external auditors and regulatory agencies as needed related to costing and inventory.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical cost-accounting foundation under US GAAP.
- Advanced Excel; ERP proficiency.
- Experience with intercompany accounting.
- Travel to various company sites (5-10%).
- Preferred: CPA, CMA or equivalent certification.
- Cannabis or other highly regulated, multi-entity / multi-state industry experience.
- Experience with Acumatica (or similar ERP).
- Knowledge of IRC §280E and its impact on cost accounting methods.
- Experience with Datarails reporting platform.
