About the Role
Under minimal supervision, the Cost Accountant will be responsible for completing cost accounting activities for the Wine & Spirits Division entities to maintain a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with U.S. GAAP. This role involves monthly cost accounting activities and key support to business partners, including all activities related to the global accounting function: close procedures, preparation, review, analysis, maintaining a strong control environment, and supporting consolidated financial statements. The Cost Accountant must thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of cost accounting reports, including cost of goods sold (COGS), inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
- Analyze costs of inventory and COGS, identify trends, and provide insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, supply chain, and finance, to drive cost efficiencies and support strategic initiatives.
- Prepare monthly accounting close procedures to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal controls, as well as the accuracy of financial statements. Specific activities include:
- Collaboration with business partners outside of accounting to accumulate support needed for journal entry preparation.
- Preparation of journal entries for operating companies, as well as consolidation and elimination entries.
- Review of trial balances and monthly and quarterly trends; perform additional review as needed to support the close.
- Analysis and review of operating company financial statements, both foreign and domestic.
- Preparation of high-quality balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Preparation and presentation of quarterly analysis deliverables.
- Support a sustainable and efficient close and reporting process with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Prepare quarterly external reporting deliverables and support internal and external audit requirements.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in public accounting and/or relevant industry experience (combination preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent required.
- CPA certification or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel required; experience with SAP and OneStream a plus.
- Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment, managing multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial statements; experience working with publicly traded companies a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $63,200.00 - $92,800.00. This range reflects the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. Compensation is based on cost of labor and may vary by geographic market. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on factors including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business needs.
