Cost Accountant

The Cost Accountant reports to the Operations Controller and is responsible for providing Cost Accounting and Financial Support for activities related to all Conn Selmer manufacturing and distribution facilities; includes cost maintenance, cycle count analysis, production order variance reviews, and month-end journal entries. Assist with other monthly, quarterly and or annual accounting tasks as assigned by finance. Responsibilities Month End Journal Entries and Accruals for Manufacturing/Distribution FacilitiesPeriodic Metrics and KPIs related to plant performanceCost rolls for new purchased products and existing products. (Including Annual Standard Revaluation)Accuracy of all Costs – Raw, WIP and FGAssist with BOM and Routing updates as needed for manufactured and imported product.Assist with Annual Budget and Period ForecastsWork with Engineering and Materials to develop accurate product structures facilitating Labor Reporting and Material Consumption as appropriate to support effective and efficient reportingActive Role to ensure all plant activities are properly reflected in monthly financial statementsCycle Count Variance Root Cause, Warehouse CC Audits with tracking of the quarterly audit resultsPhysical Inventory Process and AnalysisPerpetual to GL reconciliations each quarterMaterial, Labor and Overhead Variance AnalysisCycle Count audits and trend tracking of the quarterly audit results at Distribution WarehouseCommunicate with all co-workers and company Stakeholders in a courteous and professional mannerRespond to local and corporate management as assigned with accurate and timely workConform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipmentProduction order variance reviews in Dynamics prior to production end of production ordersOther duties as assigned by supervisor Requirements Bachelor degree in accounting is preferred or equivalent experienceTwo years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environmentProficient knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office ToolsMAPICS/Infor/AS400 and/or Dynamics 365 experience, though not required, is a plusAnalytical Skills – Ability to understand, analyze and communicate complex information to recipients with various levels of understandingProblem Solving Skills – Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfullyOral Communication Skills – Speaks clearly and persuasively in a positive or negative situation, demonstrates group presentation skills and is able to conduct a meetingJudgment Skills – Displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisionsPlanning and Organizational Skills – Prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plansRequires long periods of sedentary workRequires repetitive upper movement – keyboarding and monitor useRequires walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the dayHearing and visual acuity necessaryRequires exposure to the manufacturing areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, and mandatory hearing protection
