Responsibilities
- Receive, fill, and ship products accurately and efficiently to ensure availability and complete necessary paperwork.
- Perform various warehouse functions, including receiving, order fulfillment, product picking, wrapping and packing, stock replenishment, customer will call, and inventory cycle counts.
- Operate power equipment (e.g., electric pallet, walkie rider, sit-down forklift) safely to locate, put away, stack, and move products to correct storage locations daily. Tasks include stocking, filling bin boxes, facing cartons, checking for product mixing, and rotating product.
- Monitor stock on shelves or bins, replenish stock from reserves, and maintain control of products in reserve or will call areas.
- Unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or by hand, and inspect shipments for damage, accuracy, and completeness. Verify quantities, check packing lists, and complete paperwork for reimbursements or discrepancies.
- Ensure products have verified bar code labels and readable Johnstone stock numbers by scanning products, printing labels, resolving discrepancies, and completing necessary paperwork.
- Fill orders by picking products, packing items into cartons, stacking them to minimize damage, entering items into a scan gun, and completing necessary paperwork.
- Document the shipment of hazardous materials by labeling cartons correctly and completing required paperwork.
- Prepare orders for shipment by palletizing, wrapping, loading trucks, and placing packing lists in the last skid. Complete necessary paperwork.
- Maintain accuracy and efficiency standards, follow standard operating procedures, and participate in inventory cycle counts or related projects as assigned.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following safety rules, maintaining equipment, and keeping the work area clean. Report safety or maintenance concerns promptly.
- Wear protective equipment according to company policies and access Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as needed.
- Maintain required certifications, including hazardous materials and forklift certifications.
- Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers, maintaining a helpful and courteous attitude.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support company success.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; 0–1 year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred: Experience with pickers, forklifts, RF scanners, and inventory management systems.
- Preferred: Knowledge of the HVAC wholesale industry, principles, and practices.
- Preferred: Previous experience with OSHA and safety regulations.
- Forklift certification required or willingness to obtain on the job.
Skills
- Ability to read, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to work safely in all job tasks and lift, push, pull, or maneuver large/heavy products or equipment within safety guidelines.
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures, organize and prioritize work, and attend to details.
- Ability to work in a team-based environment and complete routine paperwork.
- Proficiency in using RF equipment and ERP software.
- English proficiency (written and spoken) is required for safety regulations and accurate communication.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk on a concrete floor for much of the workday.
- Regularly required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently required to lift and carry and/or move up to 50 pounds; may lift more with mechanical assistance or team members.
- For driving duties (if applicable), required to sit for long periods and may experience bouncing and vibration.
- Frequently required to talk or hear.
- Special vision requirements include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and color vision.
