Cortez - Underground Hydrogeologist

Responsibilities

• Aid in planning, design, budgeting, and oversight of hydrogeology drilling and construction.
• Perform hydrogeologic testing on drill holes and completed wells, including pump, injection, slug, packer, and airlift testing.
• Interpret hydrogeologic testing results.
• Communicate with Mine Planning Staff for both short and long-range drilling goals.
• Provide hydrogeological expertise and guidance to Mine Operations and Mine Planning Staff.
• Install, operate, and maintain hydrogeology monitoring equipment.
• Collect and analyze monitoring data.
• Manage/supervise drillers and subcontractors.
• Update and maintain hydrogeologic database.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in hydrogeology, geology, civil engineering, or a related field required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the mining industry preferred.
• Advanced technical communications, interpersonal, and presentation skills required.
• Demonstrated ability to operate independently and in small multi-disciplinary teams required.
• Familiarity with drill rigs and installation of hydrogeology instrumentation preferred.
• Excellent computer skills including MS Office, LeapFrog, Deswik, Vulcan, GIS required.
• Excellent safety record with ability to demonstrate safety leadership required.
