About the role

The Corrosion Control Technician supports Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, OK. They apply corrosion skills to repair, install, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance tasks on corrosion control equipment and facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Performs asset criticality assessments to identify assets needing Risk Based Inspections
  • Conducts pipe-to-soil potential surveys, casing-to-soil readings, rectifier and bond readings, current flows on pipeline, and foreign pipe-to-soil readings and all other structures under CP
  • Collects, reviews, and updates data and deliverables including Corrosion Systems, Circuitization, API RBI, Risk Review and Inspection Planning
  • Inspects coating removal, surface preparation, and coating application systems including epoxies
  • Maintains field test equipment and ensures its good operating condition
  • Performs minor repairs to CP systems such as replacing anodes, test stations, bonding, and minor coating repairs to tanks and piping
  • Locates and marks pipelines using line detection, pipeline locating equipment or probe rods
  • Reads and interprets pipeline maps, as-built alignment sheets, drawings, and schematics
  • Organizes and reduces data gathered, prepares charts and tables, and prepares final client reports including service recommendations
  • Interprets internal corrosion (IC) data and assists in preparing survey reports and final job reports
  • Communicates with technicians for assistance in effecting repairs when applicable
  • Keeps supervisor informed of unique situations and problems encountered and identifies and reports safety, environmental, and other work requirements for resolution
  • Prepares red-lined as-built existing drawings
  • Utilizes and interprets technical manuals, shop directives, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and specifications, verbal and written instructions
  • Documents records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs as required
  • Interfaces with customers and is responsible for customer feedback, as applicable
  • Operates motor vehicles in accordance with company vehicle policies
  • Complies with applicable federal, state, USAF, and OSHA environmental laws and regulations
  • Fulfills assigned tools, materials, and equipment
  • Performs close interval surveys, collects and analyzes data, and performs remedial actions according to data results
  • Maintains CP equipment, maintains records, and completes required reports

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • NACE CP Level II certification required
  • Three (3) years of Cathodic Protection survey experience or education
  • Current state driver's license, acceptable driving record, proof of valid insurance
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards related to Cathodic Protection
  • Understanding of equipment manuals and DOT standards/regulatory guidelines
  • Must be physically able to perform all duties required: walking over uneven terrain, bending, moving
  • Demonstrated skills in using various computer software, including ability to use the Windows operating system as well as common office software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • NACE Tech III certification
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with two-person teams and appropriate safety equipment
  • Ability to hear and speak
  • Ability to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays

Pay

$46.78 per hour
