Corrections Utility Plant Operator

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

• Boiler Operation: Maintain efficient operation of high temperature hot water and steam boilers under normal and emergency conditions
• System Monitoring: Read gauges, meters, and sensing devices and perform scheduled and non-routine equipment maintenance
• Auxiliary Equipment: Operate and maintain pumps, fans, control systems, and related support equipment
• Water Testing: Test boiler water chemistry and maintain logs and inventories for water treatment supplies
• Inmate Oversight: Monitor inmate workers, maintain safety, conduct searches, and ensure tool and supply control
• Daily Communication: Report concerns to supervisors and complete required paperwork and inventories

QUALIFICATIONS

• Required Experience and Training Requirements: Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Additional Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
