Corrections School Principal - SCI Fayette

About the role

The Department of Corrections, at State Correctional Institution (SCI) Fayette, seeks a Corrections School Principal to oversee the educational program and support the rehabilitation of incarcerated adults.

Responsibilities

• Guide staff, shape course planning, and direct daily educational operations
• Provide training, offer orientation, and support effective performance among permanent and contract employees
• Develop and update departmental procedures while ensuring alignment with institutional goals
• Prepare and manage the annual education budget to support program needs
• Review inmate educational requirements and approve or disapprove class participation changes
• Supervise access and storage of educational documentation and ensure compliance with regulations

Requirements

• Four years of professional educational experience, including three years as a classroom teacher or education counselor in a public school, licensed private school, or an adult correctional education program approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections; or an equivalent combination of experience and training
• Successful completion of the training academy in Elizabethtown, PA
• Meet the PA residency requirement

Schedule

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
