Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates recreational activities to meet specific needs, interests, and abilities of correctional clients in a large correctional facility.
  • Consults with various institutional staff in planning recreational programs for all residents.
  • Prepares budgets, reports, and other documentation as required.
  • Orders recreational equipment and supplies as authorized to accommodate institutional need.
  • Keeps maintenance records on recreational equipment.
  • Prepares staffing schedules, reports staff attendance, and completes staff evaluations.
  • Attends meetings and completes training as required to meet the best needs of the institution.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Experience, Training, or Skills: Three years of experience in planned recreation, physical education, or related activities.
  • Substitute Education for Experience: None.
  • Substitute Experience for Education: Experience in planned recreation, physical education, or related activities will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
