The Corrections Officer at Rockingham County, NH, serves the local community through various departments including the Sheriff’s Office, Department of Corrections, and Facilities Operations. The position is designed to empower and challenge team members with growth and wellness initiatives.
Scope of Position
The Corrections Officer maintains discipline and order within treatment housing areas and worker training sites. They are responsible for the care, custody, and overall control of the inmate population, enforcing policies and procedures. Officers also act as ex officio constables with general police powers, including arrests within the jail or during transports. They may work up to 16 hours on occasion.
Required Education and Experience
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalency.
- Must qualify for NH Association of Counties “Corrections Officer Academy” Certification.
- Must pass physical requirements of Group II Retirement Certification.
- Must possess a current and valid driver's license.
- Must demonstrate good writing and articulation skills.
- Must exhibit good interaction skills.
- Must pass a polygraph test.
Status/Shift
- Full Time / Non-Exempt / Union
- 2nd Shift: $1.75/Hour
- 3rd Shift: $2.00/Hour
- Weekend Premium: $3.00/Hour
