Position Summary

This position is responsible for the food service operation at the assigned correctional facility. This position will direct the production of meals, and train and supervise resident food service workers (persons in our care). This position plans meals, procures supplies, and will care for and clean kitchen equipment. This position maintains food inventory and ensures proper sanitation standards.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Food service workers will work in a commercial-style kitchen in close proximity to other staff and resident workers.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Sitting, standing, and climbing ladders or stairs.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 03-13 with a starting pay of $24.42/hour. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

Job Details

  • This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site.
  • Anticipated schedule will be day-time hours Monday – Friday with occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays. Specifics can be discussed at time of interview.
  • Must have the ability to work up to 14 hours per day and more than 40 hours per week on any shift based on daily operational needs, this may include weekends and holidays.
  • This position is FLSA Non-Exempt.
  • This position is not anticipated to travel on a regular basis, but most DOC positions occasionally travel for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events.

Qualifications

  • Experience preparing and directing other workers in the preparation of cooking and baking of foods, (such as: meats, vegetables, breads, desserts, bag lunches and special occasion meals).
  • Experience training or teaching others skills and tasks such as: food preparation, cooking, baking, meat, cutting and processing
  • Experience maintaining cleanliness, ensuring food safety, and monitoring compliance with sanitation standards
