Corrections Equipment Operator - SCI Mahanoy

About the role

This position supports the freight and delivery needs of the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy, ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailers, trucks, and other motor vehicles to complete daily work assignments
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance, conduct safety checks, and complete minor equipment repairs
• Train and monitor inmate workers in loading and unloading methods, equipment repair, and completion of bills of lading
• Prepare receipts, logs, attendance records, lost hours, inmate bonuses, and other routine reports
• Safeguard the work area, issue and inventory tools and materials, and search inmates and work areas for contraband

Requirements

• Two years of experience in the operation of tractor-trailer trucks
• A combination of experience and training which affords the applicant the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Valid Pennsylvania Class A Commercial Driver's License
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform essential job functions
• Pass a background investigation and meet CJIS compliance requirements

Benefits

This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

Pay

Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,010.00 (before taxes).

Schedule

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
