Position Details

Testing on National Testing Network will be open until August 10, 2026 on: National Testing Network (NTN). Candidates are required to complete NTN's REACT Test, PSSA and PHQ, and Sheriff's Office application to move forward in the hiring process. Testing is being conducted to establish an eligibility list for current and future hiring needs.

The application/testing period is open until 11:59 PM, Monday, August 10, 2026.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or an alien admitted for permanent residence or lawfully admitted for temporary residence who produces evidence of intention to become a citizen of the United States
  • Driver's License: Must have a valid driver's license with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver's license upon hiring
  • Age Requirements: Be twenty-one (21) years of age. An applicant may apply at age twenty (20), provided that no applicant shall be eligible for employment certification until their 21st birthday. There is no maximum age
  • Educational Requirement: Must have a High School Diploma or have a certification of equivalency
  • Character: Must have no felony convictions, nor domestic violence criminal convictions, nor any misdemeanor conviction involving moral turpitude (50 ILCS 705/6), nor dishonorable discharge (U.S. Army RE-4 separation classification or equivalent) from the military
  • Eyesight: Eyesight must be correctable to 20/20, free of color and night blindness
  • Testing: Must be able to participate and successfully complete all phases of the testing which includes a written examination, oral interview, physical agility, psychological evaluation, medical test, drug screening and background investigation which includes a polygraph
  • Residency: Must reside within a 25-mile radius of the Kendall County Public Safety Center within 1 year of date of hire. A waiver request can be submitted at the time of conditional job offer

Annual Salary

The annual salary is set at $69,036.48. Step increases are set by contract. The current contract expires on November 30, 2028.
