Corrections Counselor 1 - SCI Dallas

About the role

The Corrections Counselor 1 position with the Department of Corrections offers an opportunity to guide and support individuals at the State Correctional institution (SCI) at Dallas as they navigate their rehabilitation journey. You will help inmates develop skills that prepare them for positive change and future success.

Responsibilities

• Inmate Interviews: Interview inmates to support adjustment and encourage progress
• Case Records: Develop and maintain reports and documentation for inmate caseloads
• Assessment Review: Analyze test results and compile histories for case planning
• Program Coordination: Coordinate treatment objectives and support compliance with plans
• Parole Planning: Prepare reports and assist with re-entry services and recommendations

Qualifications

• Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years and six months as a corrections officer, and 18 college credits in any combination of sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field; or A bachelor’s degree including 18 college credits in any combination of sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 18 college credits in any combination of sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field.
• Special Requirements: You must obtain Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certification within two months of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this job.
