Corrections Counselor 1 - SCI Albion
About the role
This role gives you the chance to guide inmates through important decisions that shape their future at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Albion. You will work as part of a supportive team that values strong communication and sound judgment.
This position focuses on providing counseling, casework services, and guidance that supports inmate adjustment and successful community reintegration.
Responsibilities
- Inmate Counseling: Meet with inmates to offer support, address concerns, and encourage positive decisions
- Case Management: Develop records and reports to track progress and support effective reintegration
- Assessment Review: Evaluate tests and histories to determine appropriate programming and risk levels
- Program Coordination: Work with staff to align treatment plans, activities, and educational services
- Parole Support: Prepare reports and recommendations that assist with re-entry planning and placement
Qualifications
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years and six months as a corrections officer, and 18 college credits in any combination of sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field; or A bachelor’s degree including 18 college credits in any combination of sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 18 college credits in any combination of sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field.
Special Requirements: You must obtain Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certification within two months of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this job.
Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement and pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Benefits
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week, with a set schedule of 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Salary details will be provided via email, and in some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
Schedule
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework is not an option for this position.
