About the role
The Correctional Supervising Cook (CF) is responsible for overseeing and training staff and incarcerated workers in the preparation of meals for patients in a correctional health care facility. They also ensure compliance with therapeutic diet requirements and maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and train staff and incarcerated workers responsible for meal preparation
- Oversee the preparation and dispensing of therapeutic diets according to physician orders
- Ensure adherence to departmental and institutional policies and procedures
- Supervise cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen facility and equipment
- Maintain order and supervise the conduct of incarcerated workers
- Protect and maintain the safety of persons and property
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a culinary arts program or equivalent experience
- At least one year of experience in a correctional facility kitchen
- Ability to read and understand written material
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a correctional facility setting
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets and dietary management
- Experience with food safety and sanitation protocols
