Correctional Officer MECC (Full-Time)
Annual salary includes an additional $0.75 per hour medium security differential ($1,560 annually) for all full-time positions domiciled in a medium-security institution. Hourly pay: $21.45 (medium security differential included).

Responsibilities
- Maintains security in buildings, towers, and other posts of an adult correctional facility
- Intervenes during emergencies or altercations and gains physical control of offenders
- Supervises movement of offenders inside and outside the correctional facility
- Conducts periodic counts of offenders
- Searches offenders and their living quarters for contraband
- Escorts and transports offenders to predetermined locations
- Supervises offenders in housing units, during work activities, and during recreational or religious activities
- Conducts inspections for health and safety hazards
- Prepares and submits reports on offender violations, unusual behaviors, mechanical deficiencies, or security breaches
- Discusses minor adjustment problems with offenders and refers serious problems to proper staff
- Promotes rehabilitation by modifying offender attitudes, discouraging undesirable behaviors, and encouraging worthwhile activities
- Supervises visits with offenders and searches visitors, offenders, buildings, and grounds for contraband
- Performs work in accordance with established rules, regulations, post orders, and specific instructions
- Performs other related work as assigned
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to pass a background investigation administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections
- Ability to complete Defensive Tactics and Standard First Aid/CPR training during Basic Training
- By assignment, may require:
- Ability to complete and maintain firearms certification training
- Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license

Pay
- Hourly pay: $21.45 (includes $0.75 medium security differential)
- Eligible for a $2.00 per hour shift differential if assigned to a shift beginning between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am at a 24/7 congregate care facility
- Eligible for a $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential if assigned a regular post within a restrictive housing/segregation unit
- Guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service, up to 20 years
