Correctional Officer - Lateral
The Position
The purpose of this classification is to supervise and perform visitor services activities at the Parks of Chehaw which includes; concessions, ticket booths, miniature trains, gift shop, shelters and camping areas.
Duties
- Supervises, directs, and evaluates visitor services staff, processes employer concerns and problems; directs work; counsels and recommends discipline for employees; completes employee performance appraisals; provides training as needed.
- Organizes and prioritizes section workload; makes work assignments; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work.
- Participates in the interviewing process of new applicants.
- Supervises the cleanliness of all areas associated with visitors services.
- Develops cost effective menus.
- Supervises operations of concessions, ticket booths, gift shop, miniature trains, camping and shelter areas.
- Supervises/conducts inventory of stock food; monitors food rotation; orders food.
- Supervises/conducts inventory of gift shop; orders appropriate stock.
- Supervises/maintains house keeping standards for visitor services facilities.
- Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data in computer database.
- Performs customer service functions; provides assistance and information related to visitor services, or other issues; responds to routine questions, complaints or requests for services; initiates problem resolution.
- Processes a variety of documentation associated with visitor services operations; performs necessary calculations; distributes documentation or maintains records as appropriate.
- Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, work orders or other related documents.
- Communicates with manager, employees, city departments, outside agencies, customers, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities; reviews status of work, exchanges information, or resolves problems.
- Attends meetings and training as needed.
- Operates City vehicle in the performance of duties.
- Answers the telephone, provides information, advice and guidance; takes and relays messages and/or directs calls to appropriate personnel; returns call as necessary.
- Performs the duties of Visitor Services Manager in absence of same.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates degree in business/accounting or certification in hospitality or a related field; supplemented by one (1) to two (2) years previous experience and/or training that includes public relations, coordinating special events, food preparation, or related field preferred;
- or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Georgia driver's license.
