About the role

The Missouri Department of Corrections seeks individuals to join its team. This position involves transforming lives through providing skills for community contribution, with a focus on rehabilitation and prevention of recidivism.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains security in buildings/towers/other posts of an adult correctional facility
  • Intervenes during emergencies or altercations and gains physical control of offenders
  • Supervises movement of offenders inside/outside the correctional facility
  • Counsels offenders regarding minor adjustment problems and refers serious issues to appropriate staff
  • Performs work in accordance with established rules/regulations/post orders/specific instructions
  • Performs other related work as assigned

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to pass a background investigation
  • Ability to complete Defensive Tactics and Standard First Aid/CPR training
  • Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license

Qualifications

  • Ability to complete and maintain firearms certification training
  • Ability to complete and maintain defensive tactics and standard first aid/CPR training
  • Ability to complete and maintain firearms certification training

Pay

Hourly Pay: $22.20 (maximum security differential included)

Schedule

Shift differentials may apply based on assignment and location.
