Correctional Officer II
Overview
Correctional Officers II provide supervisory work involving the custody, treatment, and training of incarcerated individuals confined within a correctional facility. They supervise correctional staff and incarcerated individuals in a correctional setting, offering supervision and technical assistance to lower-ranking officers. Work is performed in accordance with standard operating procedures of the facility, and under the supervision of a shift supervisor or a technical superior.
- Conducts transportation of medication from clinical facilities to the correctional facility, verifying correct medication and counts.
- Conducts searches and inventories of property, sharps, and other inventories as needed.
- Evaluates both staff and performance in relation to assigned duties and roles, evaluating trends in behavior and performance, and may prepare written reports on under their supervision.
- Investigates grievances and participates in disciplinary hearings.
- Participates in the revision and implementation of facility procedures and programs.
Responsibilities

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent AND eighteen months (18) or more of work experience in a correctional system involving the custody of inmates or in a psychiatric facility involving the direct care of patients.
OR Associate's degree or higher AND one (1) or more years of work experience in a correctional system.
OR One (1) or more years of military experience AND one (1) or more years of work experience in a correctional system.

Schedule
This position follows a 2-2-3 schedule. In a 2-2-3 rotation, you work two consecutive days, followed by two days off, and then work three consecutive days before having another two days off. This rotation repeats, providing you with regular periods of rest while ensuring continuous coverage of operations.
Environmental Factors
Duties are performed largely within a correctional facility and in the immediate area of inmates. High stress situations are predictable, even frequent. The potential of physical assault or injury is present. Transportation and supervision of inmates outside of the correctional facility may be required. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required. Overtime and emergency duty are predictable. Shift assignments may change in accordance with the needs of the facility.
