Responsibilities
- Observe and assist in the duties of a correctional officer at the correctional facility.
- Participate in six weeks of instruction at the Vermont Correctional Academy.

- Perform evacuation procedures and potentially search and rescue functions as part of the job.
- Ensure safety and security of inmates within the correctional facility and its immediate area.
- Transport and supervise inmates outside of the facility as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two (2) years of full-time work experience, or one (1) year of college level course work plus one (1) year of full-time work experience.
- Adequate physical condition to perform essential job functions.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a correctional setting preferred.
- Military experience may be considered favorably.
Skills
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and endurance.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards related to respirators.
