• Observe and assist in the duties of a correctional officer at the correctional facility.
• Participate in six weeks of instruction at the Vermont Correctional Academy.

• Perform evacuation procedures and potentially search and rescue functions as part of the job.
• Ensure safety and security of inmates within the correctional facility and its immediate area.
• Transport and supervise inmates outside of the facility as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two (2) years of full-time work experience, or one (1) year of college level course work plus one (1) year of full-time work experience.
• Adequate physical condition to perform essential job functions.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a correctional setting preferred.
• Military experience may be considered favorably.

• Physical stamina and endurance.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards related to respirators.
