Correctional Officer: Criminal Justice Instructor
About the role
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Crump is seeking a full-time Criminal Justice: Correctional Officer Instructor position at the Crump Campus. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, five years of relevant experience, and POST certification. Preferred qualifications include an associate or bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, and prepare a complete progressive course of study, lesson plans, assignments, and instructional aids, keeping them updated to meet professional standards.
- Motivate, conduct, ensure safety, discipline, and appearance of students during their time on campus.
- Aid in student placement and follow-up; participate in recruitment efforts; evaluate student progress and maintain records; engage in professional development activities; collaborate with external agencies; work with program advisory committees; conduct site visits to area employers; and foster positive relationships within the college's service area.
- Some travel may be required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice preferred
- Five (5) years’ experience in the criminal justice field
- POST certified preferred
- Evidence of teaching ability
- Commitment to staying current in the criminal justice field
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to network with local law enforcement organizations
Qualifications
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, stand, and work, with or without accommodation, to demonstrate and perform all work-based projects in a classroom and shop setting.
- Physical ability to perform all job functions.
- Operate a motor vehicle to travel within the college service area and in other areas as needed.
Benefits
Salary range for this position is $50,142 - $60,171, commensurate with Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines. The position offers benefits that align with the institution's policy.
