About the role
Pendleton Correctional Facility is a maximum-security facility in Indiana, housing adult males. It includes updated housing units and medical areas, and offers educational programs, GED preparation, and vocational training.
Responsibilities
- Maintain security of assigned areas, incarcerated individuals, buildings, and grounds.
- Count incarcerated individuals and ensure compliance with security procedures.
- Manage incarcerated individuals in work details and escort them to/from various locations.
- Keep records and make reports on incarcerated individuals' movements, activities, and rule violations.
- Search housing areas and visitors for unauthorized items.
Requirements
- Possession of a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).
- At least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Willingness to travel with reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work with and around incarcerated individuals.
- Ability to work mandatory/voluntary overtime in any shift; up to 16 consecutive hours per day.
- Ability to understand and utilize chemical agents properly.
- Strong critical thinking skills and effective communication.
Qualifications
- Successfully complete personal protection training.
- Supervise incarcerated individuals.
Skills
- Observational and hearing skills.
- Physical effort: frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs or ladders, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling.

Pay
This position starts at a $22.00/hour base pay + $2/hour of differential pay, equating to $2,058.00 biweekly or $53,508.00 annually. Candidates with relevant experience may qualify for a higher base pay. These figures do not account for any overtime pay an employee may earn.
