About the role
Indiana Women’s Prison is a maximum-security facility in Indianapolis, serving adult female inmates with diverse needs. The prison offers a range of programs focusing on rehabilitation and re-entry planning.
Responsibilities
- Maintain security of assigned areas and incarcerated individuals during shifts.
- Count incarcerated individuals and ensure compliance with security procedures.
- Manage incarcerated individuals in work details and escort them to/from various locations.
- Keep records and report on incarcerated individuals' movements, activities, and rule violations.
- Search housing areas and visitors for unauthorized items.
Requirements
- Possession of a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).
- At least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Willingness to travel with reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work with and around incarcerated individuals.
- Ability to work mandatory/voluntary overtime in any shift; up to 16 consecutive hours per day.
- Ability to understand and utilize chemical agents properly.
- Strong critical thinking skills and effective communication abilities.
Qualifications
- Pass drug screenings.
- Ability to pass personal protection training.
- Supervisory responsibilities for incarcerated individuals.
Skills
- Keen observational and hearing skills.
- Physical effort involving frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and similar movements.

Pay
This position starts at a $22/hour base pay + $1/hour of differential pay. Candidates with relevant experience may qualify for a higher base pay. These figures do not account for any overtime pay an employee may earn.
Schedule
Candidates will work 85.75 hours per 2-week pay period, consisting of 7 total shifts, including 1 weekend shift.
