About the role
The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a highly responsible Correctional Officer to maintain custody and control of juveniles in a custodial security setting. This position involves performing various duties including monitoring activities, assisting with interpersonal skill development, and transporting juveniles.
Responsibilities
- Maintains custody and control of juveniles in a custodial security setting or performs related special assignments.
- Serves as a supervisor and monitor of detained juveniles, ensuring a safe and secure environment.
- Assists juveniles in developing interpersonal skills and provides support services.
- Maintains the booking program to document youth's behaviors and interactions.
- Attends staff meetings, case conferences, and trainings as required.
- Transports juveniles as needed.
Requirements
- High school graduate.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Valid driver's license.
- Must successfully complete the Department of Juvenile Justice Training Academy within six months of employment.
- Maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials for the duration of employment.

Pay
$39,127.68 annually with additional shift premiums and weekend/holiday premiums.
Schedule
Shifts vary, including overnight shifts and weekends. Probationary period is 6 months.
