About the role
The Correctional Officer, under the direction of the above ranking officers, shall receive new prisoners, book out prisoners, oversee security, issue inmates supplies, assign temporary housing, and handle property control.
Responsibilities
- Receive new prisoners and book out prisoners.
- Oversight of security.
- Issue inmates supplies.
- Assign temporary housing.
- Handle property control.
- Be a backup to other officers.
- Assist as needed in the facility.
- Provide regular visual observation and supervision of prisoners and activities.
- Avoid prisoner misbehavior, avoid disorder, and respond quickly to emergency situations.
- Communicate with prisoners, considering their needs and rights, exercising a non-judicial attitude, and respecting them as human beings.
- Attend Tennessee Corrections Institute and receive certification within one year.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.

- Photo ID and Social Security card required to process application.
