Correctional Officer (012379) Hospital Security Team (PRISMA) - Columbia (RICHLAND)

Pay

Salary range: $55,575 – $56,618. This reflects minimum and maximum based on years of current agency service plus incentive structures at SCDC; not all individuals may qualify for the highest tier of base pay adjustments and incentives.

Responsibilities

• Ensures safety, order, and control of inmates housed in community hospitals and performs other duties assigned by the Division of Security Management.
• Inspects posts to ensure proper performance of duties.
• Maintains current knowledge of the security status of inmates assigned to the hospital.
• Ensures control of security keys/equipment at the community hospital.
• Responds to complaints and concerns from hospital staff.
• Prepares, submits, and reviews operational and administrative reports.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizen
• 18 years of age or older
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license
• Tattoos must not be offensive and/or gang related or visibly located on the face or head; neck tattoos evaluated case‑by‑case
• Must pass a medical assessment administered by SCDC
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy within six (6) months of entry into this position
• One (1) year experience working in a medium/maximum correctional setting

Qualifications

• Preferred: 18 months’ work experience in correctional, security, or police work, with at least one (1) year in a medium/maximum correctional setting
