Correctional Lieutenant Job Rotation (WOC) (Lakeview)
About the role
This position is available for current regular status employees of the Oregon Department of Corrections, Oregon Corrections Enterprises, or Oregon Board of Parole, Probation, and Post-Prison Supervision.
Responsibilities
- Fills a role as a senior security staff member responsible for overseeing custody, control, supervision, and daily care of adults in custody while upholding the mission of the Department.
- Supervises an entire shift of Security staff, assigns staff as institution-needs dictate, provides direction and instruction, makes operational decisions impacting the facility, and maintains security at all times by ensuring staff follow and enforce established Department of Corrections Rules and Procedures, Institutional Procedures, Post Orders, and Administrative Directives.
- Develops and learns the key responsibilities involved in the institution’s leadership team roll and upholds the DOC Leadership Philosophy.
Requirements
- Three years of experience in a correctional security setting where primary duties were the care and custody of inmates. One year of which must have been at the level of a Sergeant in a correctional system.
- Have or be able to obtain, within two weeks, an Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Correctional Certificate OR a Correctional Certificate from another government agency.
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED certificate.
- Be 21 years of age or older;
- United States Citizen.
Special Qualifications
- Ability to obtain a valid Oregon motor vehicle operator's license.
Education and Experience
The candidate is not on any active disciplinary actions or corrective measures. The candidate is current on all required training courses and certifications. The candidate is a regular status employee and has completed probationary period in the candidate’s current role.
