CORRECTIONAL LIEUTENANT

Under the direction of the Captain, the Correctional Lieutenant oversees the daily operations and activities of the facility. Responsibilities

Key duties include:

• Managing daily operations and activities of the facility
• Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships within the department, other governmental agencies, healthcare partners, and communities
• Promoting an equitable and inclusive workplace where diversity is celebrated and valued

Requirements

The following are required to qualify for this position:

• Meet the Minimum Requirements outlined in the Class Specification
• Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview/appointment
• If using education to meet Minimum Qualifications, include unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification (official transcripts may be required upon appointment)
• Foreign education must be verified for U.S. equivalency via a NACES-accredited evaluation service
• New hires must complete a background investigation (Live Scan Fingerprinting) and a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, with annual testing thereafter
• Do not include confidential information (e.g., Social Security Number, birthdate, driver’s license number unless required) on application documents

Pay

Monthly salary ranges (before PLP 2025 deductions):

• $9,192.00 - $11,567.00 (Range A)
• $9,767.00 - $12,290.00 (Range J)

Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires a 3% salary reduction in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 30, 2027. New state employees will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or alternate range.
