CORRECTIONAL LIEUTENANT
About the role
Under the direction of the Captain (AI), the Correctional Lieutenant will be in charge of the custodial operation and is responsible for maintaining order and discipline in accordance with established procedures throughout the facility, including housing units, dining halls, work areas, exercise yards, and other areas. This is a Limited Term position for 12 months, with the possibility of extension up to 24 months or conversion to permanent status.
Responsibilities
- Maintain order and discipline in accordance with established procedures throughout the facility.
- Train and evaluate new Correctional Sergeants and Correctional Officers in custodial procedures and practices.
- Assist subordinate staff in all areas to enable them to become more efficient in their duties.
- Supervise all subordinate custodial personnel assigned to the Watch, ensuring custodial functions are performed in accordance with institution procedures.
- Adjudicate and make disciplinary reports as needed.
- Monitor incarcerated individual activities and program functions within living conditions.
- Ensure institutional rules and regulations are enforced.
Working Conditions
High Desert State Prison is located approximately eight miles east of Susanville, or about a 1 hour 30-minute drive northwest of Reno, Nevada.
