Full-time, regular position located at OCI/Lexington Assessment and Reception Center.

About the Role

Positions in this job family oversee the production of goods or delivery of services through the Oklahoma State Industries Program. This includes managing manufacturing operations (e.g., modular furniture, metal products, mattresses) or service contracts (e.g., computer programming, data entry).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver correctional industries products to buyers; supervise and ensure security of inmate work crews during delivery and installation; operate commercial vehicles for shipments.
  • Inspect delivered products for damage and quality; perform minor on-site repairs; train inmate workers on proper tool and equipment use.
  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate operations of a manufacturing or service industry within the program; direct assigned staff and inmate workers; prepare reports on industry operations.
  • Train employees or inmates on machinery or equipment operation used in manufacturing or service delivery.
  • Requisition raw materials, supplies, and equipment; maintain inventory and production cost records; oversee storage and delivery of finished products.
  • Maintain security and discipline of inmates in work areas; enforce prison rules and regulations; evaluate inmate work performance and compliance.

Level Descriptor

Employees at this level manage industries of limited size and scope (e.g., light manufacturing, low-technical industries, or service delivery with a small inmate workforce). Some roles may assist in directing larger industry programs.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in data processing, programming, production (e.g., quality control, inventory, production control), manufacturing, or food processing/service management.
  • Substitution: One year of correctional or security work may replace one year of the required experience.
  • Some positions require a valid Class A or B Oklahoma Commercial Driver’s License with appropriate endorsements.
  • Willingness to fulfill job-related travel as required.
  • Some roles may require experience in a specific manufacturing or service industry.
  • Certain positions are designated as safety-sensitive under 63 O.S. § 427.8.

Skills and Competencies

  • Knowledge of industry methods, operations, and production machinery/equipment maintenance.
  • Understanding of supervisory principles, practices, and modern record-keeping (e.g., perpetual inventory).
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships, supervise inmates, and follow oral/written instructions.

Pay

$48,067.78 annually.
