About the role

Rockville Correctional Facility is a maximum-security institution in Rockville, Indiana, housing over 1,200 incarcerated adult females. It serves as the intake unit for all women entering the Indiana Department of Correction. The facility provides assessments, educational and vocational opportunities, and rehabilitative programming.

Role Overview

As a Correctional Captain, you will oversee the management, supervision, and safety of the facility, its incarcerated individuals, staff, and the public. You will interpret and apply IDOC facility rules, policies, and procedures, and lead in emergencies. Essential functions include overseeing daily inspections, managing staff, identifying offender treatment needs, and providing guidance and feedback.

Pay

The salary for this position typically starts at $59,800.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

What You'll Need for Success

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass all drug screenings.
  • Thorough knowledge of correctional environments.
  • Ability to supervise and achieve desired results from offenders and staff.
  • Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to collaborate with other departments.
  • Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
  • Ability to give feedback, provide guidance, and develop employee skillsets.

Requirements

  • Must complete mandatory training including the DOC Supervisory Training Program, First Aid, and CPR courses.
  • A High School Diploma or HSE and at least 4+ years of experience in a correctional institution, law enforcement, or military law enforcement.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a correctional supervisor or supervisory training in a related field.
