About the role
Correction Officers are responsible for the custody, safety, and well-being of incarcerated individuals in DOCCS facilities—including correctional facilities, work release programs, and drug treatment campuses. They also supervise individuals receiving medical or mental health care outside of these facilities.

Requirements
- Age 18-21: Must be at least age 18 at the time of appointment
- Enhanced training and mentorship programs while serving prior to 21st birthday
- Subject to restrictions regarding obtaining/use of firearms, performance of certain duties, and contact with incarcerated individuals without supervision
- Classified as non-carry Peace Officers and subject to firearms requalification upon 21st birthday
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Passing score on a physical fitness test
- Passing score on a background check

Pay
The salary range includes a $5,000 annual geographic pay differential.
