Corporate Vice President - Enterprise Quality Engineer Lead

About the Role
New York Life is seeking a Corporate Vice President, Enterprise Quality Engineering to lead the transformation of quality engineering across the enterprise. This executive leadership role is responsible for defining the enterprise strategy, governance, operating model, and engineering practices that ensure quality, resilience, and stability are built into every stage of the technology delivery lifecycle.
As a strategic technology leader within Tech, Data, AI, and Ventures (TDAV), you will partner with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Release Management, Change Management, Security, and Business leaders to evolve New York Life from traditional testing approaches to a modern, automation-first, quality engineering organization. You will establish enterprise standards, drive engineering excellence, strengthen delivery predictability, and provide executive visibility into quality health, operational risk, and technology readiness. This role will lead a high-performing Quality Engineering organization while helping accelerate New York Life's technology modernization initiatives through scalable, measurable, and risk-aware quality practices.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the enterprise Quality Engineering strategy, establishing governance, standards, operating models, and quality-by-design practices that align with New York Life's technology strategy, business priorities, and regulatory expectations.
- Lead the transformation to an automation-first quality engineering model by embedding modern testing, quality engineering, DevSecOps, and CI/CD practices across application development, cloud platforms, APIs, performance engineering, and enterprise release pipelines.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Release Management, Change Management, and Production Support leaders to improve release confidence, production stability, operational resilience, and delivery predictability while proactively identifying systemic quality risks and driving root-cause remediation.
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing enterprise Quality Engineering organization, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration across multiple value streams.
- Establish executive-level quality metrics, dashboards, and governance processes that provide actionable insights into quality health, automation maturity, production readiness, operational risk, and enterprise technology performance to support strategic decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience) with 12+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, technology delivery, quality engineering, or enterprise technology leadership, including significant senior leadership experience.
- Proven success leading enterprise-scale Quality Engineering organizations within complex, highly regulated environments, with demonstrated experience establishing enterprise standards, governance models, operating frameworks, and automation strategies.
- Deep expertise in modern Quality Engineering, test automation, CI/CD, DevSecOps, cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, release management, and engineering best practices that improve software quality and delivery outcomes.
- Strong business, operational, and risk management acumen with the ability to balance speed, innovation, resilience, quality, and regulatory compliance while influencing enterprise technology strategy.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with demonstrated success building high-performing organizations, developing leaders, and influencing executive decision-making across large, matrixed enterprises.
- Experience defining enterprise quality metrics, operational KPIs, governance dashboards, and executive reporting that provide meaningful insight into delivery health, production stability, technology risk, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading enterprise Quality Engineering transformation initiatives within financial services, insurance, or another highly regulated industry.
- Experience implementing AI-enabled testing, intelligent automation, predictive quality analytics, and engineering productivity capabilities to improve software delivery and operational resilience.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture, cloud platform modernization, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), platform engineering, and large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
- Advanced certifications or demonstrated expertise in Agile delivery, DevSecOps, Quality Engineering, cloud technologies, or enterprise technology leadership.

Pay
Salary Range: $147,500-$211,000
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
