Responsibilities

• Consult on the legal issues and implications of potential business decisions and initiatives, providing counsel on general business and legal matters.
• Create contracts, product forms, and other documents as needed to support business divisions and address corporate policy/compliance issues.
• Work collaboratively with a cross-functional team to ensure proactive and compliant execution of all company objectives.
• Provide legal advice, strategies, and solutions to various business functional areas, including Market Management, Marketing, Underwriting, Actuarial, Operations/IT, Finance, PS&RS, Claims, and Human Resources.

Requirements

• JD degree from an ABA-approved law school and licensed in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 3-8 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Experience in insurance and/or reinsurance is highly desirable.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and familiarity with Lexis or Westlaw.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Effective project management abilities.
• Strong legal research and analysis skills.
• Business acumen and the ability to analyze legal issues from a business perspective.
• The capacity to handle multiple, varied legal issues simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• The capability to prioritize tasks effectively in urgent situations.
• A willingness to travel as necessary and work from the Fort Wayne home office on a hybrid schedule.
