About the Role

Xerox Corporation is seeking a skilled and experienced Investigator to support all operating units in investigating violations of company policy and criminal/civil law that may adversely impact Xerox. Cases include, but are not limited to, Business Ethics, Theft of Company and Personal Property, Drugs, Illegal Activity, Fraud, Brand Protection, Employee Misconduct, and Workplace Violence. This position is critical to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate sensitive and/or complex employee relations matters from start to finish, including leading interviews, note-taking, gathering and analyzing evidence (electronic/physical, etc.), documenting findings, and following up with relevant parties.
  • Investigate cases involving Employee Grievances, Ethics concerns, Open Door complaints, Security-related violations, Executive escalations, and Motor Vehicle Violations.
  • Review and understand the policy alleged to have been violated.
  • Partner with Corporate Security on matters that are not solely HR-related.
  • Plan and execute pre-planning and debrief meetings with investigating partners (Corporate Security, Internal Audit, etc.).
  • Plan and execute meetings with concerned individuals (Complainant, Persons of Knowledge, Witnesses, Alleged Subject) to gather facts.
  • Conduct research and investigative interviews to address the matter at hand.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding and consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and practices (KPI: timely, consistent, and quality service at all times).
  • Write a Policy Violation Investigation Report, Executive Escalations Summary, or Open Door Summary to document findings.
  • Objectively debrief findings and HR recommendations with HR Business Partners and Leadership/Higher Line Management when applicable.
  • Make final decisions on corrective actions, including termination, to be executed.
  • Engage internal legal counsel as appropriate.
  • Upon completion of investigations, create close-out and action memos.
  • Ensure signed memos are returned by management.
  • Discreetly handle sensitive and/or private information.
  • Close cases within set timeframes.
  • Travel as required.

Skills

  • Experience conducting investigations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a diverse range of partners (e.g., HR, Security, Legal).
  • High emotional intelligence and background in investigating a variety of employment and labor relations issues.
  • Ability to be empathetic and provide emotional support while gathering facts.
  • Able to manage a high volume of work and deliver results on time with quality.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in conducting HR investigations.
  • Experience with detailed, factual investigations involving internal policies and Code of Conduct from start to finish.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and comprehension skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and be proactive.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Self-direction and initiative to follow wherever the information leads.
