About the role

Restaurant Depot is the nation’s leading members-only, wholesale cash-and-carry supplier serving independent restaurants, caterers, delis, convenience stores, and other food service businesses across 165+ locations in 35 states. We are seeking a detail-oriented Corporate Inventory Controller to support inventory accuracy, reporting, and effective inventory management across our operations.

The Corporate Inventory Controller is responsible for overseeing inventory control processes, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring alignment between system data and physical inventory across the organization. This role partners closely with corporate, warehouse, and operations teams to investigate discrepancies, analyze inventory data, support inventory audits, and implement processes that improve inventory accuracy, reduce shrink, and enhance operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate is an analytical, detail-oriented professional with strong inventory control experience and the ability to identify trends, investigate discrepancies, and develop solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Control & Accuracy
    • Oversee inventory control processes to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and reconciliation of inventory
    • Maintain accurate inventory records within company systems and ensure alignment between system data and physical inventory
    • Monitor inventory adjustments, transfers, damages, write-offs, and other inventory transactions for accuracy
    • Investigate inventory discrepancies and identify root causes to support timely resolution
    • Review inventory variances and work with operational teams to implement corrective actions
    • Monitor inventory accuracy and identify potential sources of shrink or loss
    • Establish and maintain consistent inventory control practices across locations
  • Inventory Analysis & Reporting
    • Analyze inventory data, trends, and variances to identify operational issues and opportunities for improvement
    • Prepare and maintain inventory reports, reconciliations, and performance metrics
    • Monitor inventory accuracy KPIs and communicate findings to corporate and operational leadership
    • Identify recurring discrepancies and develop recommendations to improve inventory accuracy
    • Analyze inventory movement, adjustments, and other activity to identify trends or process gaps
    • Provide accurate and timely inventory information to support business decisions
  • Audits & Reconciliation
    • Oversee and support cycle counts, physical inventories, inventory audits, and reconciliations
    • Review audit results and investigate discrepancies between physical inventory and system records
    • Ensure inventory adjustments are properly researched, documented, and approved
    • Maintain accurate records of inventory audits, reconciliations, and corrective actions
    • Partner with field locations to address inventory control issues and improve compliance with established procedures
  • Corporate & Cross-Functional Support
    • Partner with warehouse, operations, receiving, purchasing, finance, and other corporate teams to improve inventory accuracy
    • Provide guidance and support to field locations on inventory control processes and procedures
    • Collaborate with operational leadership to resolve complex inventory discrepancies
    • Communicate inventory trends, risks, and opportunities to relevant stakeholders
    • Support the development and implementation of inventory control standards across the organization
  • Process Improvement & Compliance
    • Identify opportunities to improve inventory control processes, reporting, and operational efficiency
    • Develop, implement, and maintain inventory control procedures, standards, and best practices
    • Evaluate existing processes and recommend improvements to increase accuracy and reduce inventory loss
    • Support compliance with company inventory policies, procedures, and internal controls
    • Assist with implementing corrective actions and process improvements based on audit findings
    • Promote accountability and consistency in inventory management across the organization

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Accounting, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in inventory control, inventory management, warehouse operations, distribution, or a related field
  • Experience working with inventory management systems and reporting tools
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, reconciliation, auditing, and warehouse processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyze and manipulate large data sets
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across departments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in distribution, wholesale, retail, or other high-volume inventory environments
  • Experience supporting multiple locations or field operations
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS)
  • Experience with inventory audits, cycle counting, and physical inventory processes
  • Experience analyzing inventory KPIs and operational performance metrics
  • Experience identifying and implementing inventory control process improvements

Work Environment

  • Primarily corporate office environment with regular interaction with warehouse and field operations
  • Fast-paced environment requiring strong organization and attention to detail
  • May require occasional travel to warehouse, distribution, or field locations
  • Primarily sedentary work with occasional standing, walking, and lifting as needed
  • Occasional schedule flexibility may be required based on business needs
