About the Role

The Corporate Engineer is a key resource for executing complex tasks in projects, focusing on timely completion. This role serves as the main technical resource for electrical, mechanical, composite fabrication, and materials-related issues. Responsibilities include the design, development, alteration, or modification of products, evaluating new devices, patents, or competitive items, and providing independent decision-making.

This position emphasizes mechanical project design and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Execute approved engineering projects to realize ROI and meet timelines, communicating progress to stakeholders and organizing project reviews.
  • Design and install processes that meet or exceed stakeholder and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a technical resource for electrical, mechanical, and industrial controls-related issues.
  • Support facility engineering with complex project tasks as directed by the Director of Engineering.
  • Lead efforts to specify installation requirements, develop statements of work (SOW), obtain bids/proposals, and install new capital equipment.
  • Create CAD drawings for equipment and building layouts, and develop detailed drawing packages for equipment design and fabrication.
  • Work with contractors to safely install equipment, ensuring compliance with code requirements.
  • Manage budget and schedule constraints to achieve on-time and on-budget project completion.
  • Develop project proposals (charters) with business cases and financial justifications (e.g., ROI).
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on equipment and part designs where applicable.
  • Apply familiarity with CNC tooling, fabrication, mold, and tooling design.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment.

Other Duties

  • Assist manufacturing facilities with implementing new processes and equipment.
  • Prepare technical reports on new materials, processes, and key equipment capabilities (white papers).
  • Develop technical training documents for TGC materials and processes to educate sales and manufacturing teams, and assist with sourcing alternate materials.
  • Perform data analysis and present findings in a coherent format.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities, documenting savings.
  • Act as a liaison with industry associations such as UL, NEMA, IEC, and IEEE.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in capital equipment procurement, specification, and installation.
  • Project management competency with proven experience (e.g., PMP certification).
  • Background in electrical and mechanical disciplines for installing new equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and proficiency in project management software.
  • Performance-driven work ethic with a desire for personal and professional growth.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and perform statistical analyses.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Mechanical drawing experience with CAD/SolidWorks.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical).
  • OSHA competency in an industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of building codes for installing capital equipment in manufacturing environments.
  • Self-starter and team player who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Lean/Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement background and problem-solving skills.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands include regular sitting, standing, walking, using hands and fingers, talking, and hearing. Travel is required to support projects across the enterprise. The employee may occasionally work on the manufacturing floor in a typical office environment with varying noise levels.
