Job Responsibilities

  • Handles routine legal matters which generally focus on applying knowledge of one or more legal specialties
  • Typically receives specific direction from management or more senior law professionals as to the outcomes, process and schedules expected while developing a deeper knowledge of the business operations of the company
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to execute legal strategy
  • Affords assistance on cases, matters and projects, performs and supervises research, reviews standard documents and routine contracts, and prepares routine filings

About the Role

The Corporate Counsel works closely with senior attorneys to provide legal guidance to leadership on a wide range of routine matters which may vary in complexity in relation to our Pharmacy and Healthcare business.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and at least three (3) years of post-bar attorney legal work experience in a combination of law firm
  • Required licensure to practice law in at least one state
  • Required Illinois bar membership or active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Experience with time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates
  • Experience collaborating across business lines to develop and/or execute departmental strategies
  • At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace
  • At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross- functional team leadership
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience handling healthcare and/or pharmacy regulatory matters, preferably gained through a combination of: Law firm healthcare or pharmacy practices, and/or In-house roles supporting healthcare, pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, digital health, or life sciences businesses
  • Working knowledge of U.S. pharmacy and healthcare regulatory frameworks, such as: Fraud and abuse laws (including Anti-Kickback Statute and False Claims Act), HIPAA, HITECH, and healthcare privacy and security requirements
  • Experience advising on healthcare-related transactions, including: Commercial agreements, vendor and services agreements, and professional services arrangements
  • Digital health, technology, data-sharing, and vendor contracting in regulated environments
  • Structuring and negotiating agreements with pharmaceutical manufacturers
  • Demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to cross-functional stakeholders
  • Experience identifying, assessing, and managing regulatory risk while enabling business objectives in a highly regulated environment
  • Strong legal drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to independently manage matters from issue-spotting through execution
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex regulatory concepts clearly to non-lawyers and other business partners
  • Proven judgment, professionalism, and integrity, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed corporate environment

Pay

Salary Range: $115,400 - $196,200 / Salaried
