Corporate Counsel, Government and Regulatory Litigation

About the role

Amazon’s Legal Department is looking for a smart, experienced, and highly motivated litigator to help manage its worldwide portfolio of government enforcement, litigation, and regulatory matters, and advise the company on a wide variety of legal and business risk management issues.

Responsibilities

• Handling and supervising a wide range of government disputes and regulatory engagements across all of Amazon’s businesses
• Directly interacting with government officials, including local, state, and federal regulators and law enforcement
• Selecting and managing outside counsel
• Assessing risk and coordinating with senior leadership on risk management
• Counseling internal stakeholders on a broad spectrum of complex and often novel legal and policy issues
• Managing all stages of both affirmative and defensive litigation, including discovery

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
• 5+ years of post bar admission legal experience
• 5+ years of litigation and regulatory experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience in crisis management and response or equivalent
• Experience effectively communicating complex concepts through written and verbal communication
• Trial experience
• Familiarity with retail, Internet, software, and/or media industries and the legal and regulatory environment in which they operate
• Proficiency in advising senior executives of an organization
• Demonstrated sound business judgment
• Demonstrated high ethical standards and professional integrity

Pay

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.

USA, NY, New York - $169,300.00 - $229,000.00 USD annually
USA, VA, Arlington - $153,900.00 - $208,200.00 USD annually
USA, WA, SEATTLE - $153,900.00 - $208,200.00 USD annually
